Topaz IDGem biometric input terminals feature state-of-the-art RF or Optical imaging electronic fingerprint sensors for accurate high-resolution electronic fingerprint capture. This technology captures an image of the living subcutaneous skin tissue, which unlike the fingertip’s surface is free from the damages and defects caused by the environment. The result is a fingerprint capture technique that will work with any user’s print, even through substances such as lotion, sweat, oil, and dirt, which often confuse other capture systems, and prevent the fingerprint image from being accurately recorded.
Topaz IDGem products create detailed high-contrast images of a fingertip's detailed skin characteristics. SigID software captures and stores this image information to create unique user templates. Using pattern-matching algorithms, fingerprint inputs are compared to existing templates and verified or rejected. This method makes cumbersome high-resolution fingerprint graphics unnecessary for recognition and matching, allowing greater freedom and ease of operation in your ID card system.
The rugged electromagnetic IDGem LCD 1x5 pad with an optical sensor has been designed for the capture of high-quality, high-resolution fingerprint images (500 x 500 dpi). In addition, fingerprint authentication is available for verifying a user against their own saved fingerprint template and the IDGem also provides the benefits of secure biometric Topaz forensic signature capture. The LCD allows users to see their signature on the pad while signing. All software and updates are licensed for use with Topaz tablets at no extra charge, and can be downloaded from the Topaz website.
